Celtic Tree Calendar

Trees physically unite the heavens and the Earth, uniting the Sky God and Earth Mother together as one, creating a powerful magickal force. That is why the Celts used so many of the trees' properties, like the bark, in fertility herbs. The Celts, like most other cultures of the time, kept their calendar in correspondence to the moon phases, assigning names and attributes to each full moon. Eventually, a tree was designated to each moon in accordance with its magickal properties. The gender was given to each tree/moon phase and held as sacred to either the God or Goddess it represented. In modern Celtic Wicca, the tree calendar typically begins at Yule, although originally it began at Samhain to coincide with with the beginning of the Celtic New Year. For the purpose of this figure, we will use the first moon phase as Yule, the nearest full moon being the Birch Moon. Align your self with these moon phases to further assist you in increasing your magickal workings.
